I just listened to RM’s *Rap Monster* mixtape on SoundCloud. So that’s what RM stands for😭. Wow I’m really slow💀
Anyway,This mixtape hit way harder than I expected. It’s raw, intense, and feels like RM’s full-blown introduction to the rap world. The energy on this mixtape is wild, especially in tracks like “Do You” where he boldly declares his independence and self-confidence. This was a huge shift for me after hearing *Indigo* and *Mono*, which are more reflective.
I liked how he showed off his fierce, unfiltered lyricism, flexing his rap skills with amazing wordplay👌🏾. “Joke” literally had me shook. The fast-paced delivery and his ability to switch flows so effortlessly left me feeling like he’s got no limits. Every line drips with confidence, and the mixtape’s underground, unpolished sound made it feel like a raw expression of his frustrations and ambitions.
My favorite line was when he said “I’m a monster, I rap with no sponsor / So call me a psycho, I’m killing like Michael,” playing with double meanings. The “Michael” referring to both Michael Jackson and Michael Myers, mixing fame with horror.
(Edit) someone on twitter just made me aware that i might be using a non reliable translator so those lyrics above might not be correct.
My favorite rapper is Kendrick Lamar, of course I know a few things about wordplay and I always appreciate a rapper that makes me speculate what he really meant in his/her bar.
I loved How versatile RM is. From addressing societal issues in “Awakening” to flexing his lyrical power in “Monster,” he showed me he’s not just a K-pop idol but a legit rapper with something to say. You can feel the hunger and passion in every track—it’s like he’s fighting for a place in hip-hop while staying true to himself. To me this album feels like RM is baring his teeth for the first time.
It’s gritty, rebellious, and complete
It was fun and interesting to see where RM’s rap roots began, *Rap Monster* will be in rotation.

I am confused, but as far as i know there are no such lyrics in Joke: I’m a monster, I rap with no sponsor / So call me a psycho, I’m killing like Michael,”.

“Yeah, i told you that I’m a monster, that’s why i be rapping nonstop…” – these are lyrics.
Also my fave part is where he says: 6 bullets in my tongue, six snakes in my lung, six shots make me feeling like Tupac, yeah these are Asap lyrics…” – 6 is also number of members of bts excluding RM
Someone on twitter made me aware that the website I use for translations might be giving me wrong lyrics. Ppl have recommended websites they trust.
Thank you for pointing it out,🫶🏾
Yeah, it was me. Doolset is the website that most armys acknowledge as most accurate for the translation and the explanation of references. You should definitely include it for further reviews
